“What characteristics does Japanese have as a language?”, “What kind of poetry did Li Bai create?”, “What was Shakespeare really trying to tell us?” If you are interested in things like these, the Department of Language & Culture is the ideal place for you to study. The Department of Language & Culture has six courses – Japanese Language & Literature,Chinese Language & Literature,Asian Linguistics＊,English Language and American & British Literature,European Languages & Literature, and Linguistic Science.
Some of the students aim to obtain teaching licences (junior high school Japanese and English; high school Japanese, English, and Chinese) or a professional librarian’s qualification. All sorts of paths are open to graduates including entry to graduate schools, teaching careers, the civil service, and business.
