Research Activities

The Faculty engages in research into such fundamental humanities-related questions as what it means to be human and what the ideal state of mankind is. The Faculty has a variety of facilities in place like the Cross-Cultural Interchange & Research Institute and the Research Promotion Office to promote these research activities. The Literary Society and the research societies of each field of study are vigourous in their activities.

It is through these bodies that each member of staff advances his or her own research while at the same time cooperating with other researchers both inside and outside the Faculty in order to advance international exchanges. Furthermore, research programs such as the Yamaguchi studies carried out in response to local issues also occupy an important position in the Faculty of Humanities.
