Acquiring a Teaching License

At the Faculty of Humanities students can acquire a Level 1 license for teaching social studies, Japanese and English at the junior high school level, and a Level 1 license for teaching geography, history, civics, Japanese and English at the senior high school level.
In order to obtain these credentials, students must take specified classes including general and specialist classes, as well as subjects specifically related to teaching (including teaching practice). Each license has different requirements for classes that need to be completed.

Acquiring a Librarian Qualification

A Librarian is an official who carries out specialist administrative duties at libraries, grounded in Library Law. In order to qualify as a librarian, students need to gain credits from specified classes in subjects related to libraries as prescribed by Library Law.
Upon request, students who have taken the prescribed classes from amongst the modules offered by Yamaguchi University will be furnished with a Certificate of Qualification as a Librarian.

Acquiring a Curator Qualification

Curators are professionals engaged in the collection, preservation, exhibition and investigative research of museum materials, together with associated work based on Museum Law. In order to gain credentials as a curator, students need to accrue all credits from specified classes in subjects related to museums as prescribed by Museum Law.

Acquiring a Social Researcher Qualification

A Social research qualification is awarded to those possessing the specialist competencies of social research (knowledge, techniques, practical application, ethics).
In order to qualify as a social researcher, students need to gain credits from specified classes as prescribed by the Social Researcher Certification Organization (hereinafter referred to as the “Organization”) and apply to the Organization for certification.
Students whose qualifications have been recognized will be furnished with a Certificate in Social Research from the Organization. (Only for the Sociology Course)
